From Soil to Software: Lessons My Village Taught Me About Technology

·2 min read

Village-Software

Like many Indian IT professionals, my weekdays are spent in front of a laptop — juggling code, meetings, deadlines and releases. Bangalore has been central to this journey. It has given me exposure to modern technology, diverse teams, and the opportunity to continuously learn in a fast-evolving industry.

Even while working in fast-paced delivery cycles, the values I carry from my hometown in North Karnataka continue to influence how I think and work.

Working in the tech industry teaches us to think fast, adapt quickly, and solve problems under pressure. Cities like Bangalore sharpens these skills every day. It is a city that rewards curiosity and consistency and I’m grateful for the career growth and stability it has helped me build.

At the same time, my village represents a rhythm of life that quietly complements my work in technology.

Back home, away from calls and notifications, I find a different kind of clarity — one that comes from quiet and reflection. Life moves at a natural pace, guided by daylight and seasons rather than calendars and reminders.

Being close to nature brings a kind of mental reset — something many of us in IT seek after long workdays and screen-heavy routines.

Each visit home feels like rebooting a system that has been running continuously. The calm, open spaces and the simplicity help me step back and reflect. That space often brings better focus, patience, and perspective-qualities that directly influence how I approach problem-solving, debugging, and decision-making at work.

For me, it has never been about rejecting city life or glorifying rural life. Both worlds matter. The city gives me the tools to build a career in technology, while my village keeps me grounded and reminds me of balance. One drives professional growth, while the other adds perspective to it.

As I continue my journey in the tech world, my roots remain an important part of who I am. Through this platform, I plan to share technology learnings in a simple and practical way — for IT professionals at any stage of their careers, as well as anyone curious to learn and grow.

In a field that is constantly evolving, staying grounded helps us grow sustainably. And for me, the connection between soil and software is what makes this journey meaningful.
